Trenton board designing process – Standard operating systems testing

During the final stages of our single board computer and embedded motherboard development programs we conduct an extensive operating system testing program.  Since Trenton hardware is operating system agnostic, it is critical that our hardware runs effectively on a number of different operating system platforms.  We ensure that the board’s BIOS, processor micro-architecture, chipset firmware, network and device drivers play nicely with a wide variety of standard operating systems.  Here’s a partial listing of some of the operating systems that we test here at Trenton:

Red Hat Enterprise LinuxMicrosoft XPSun Solaris

SUSE Linux EnterpriseMicrosoft Windows Server

Real-time operating systems (RTOS) usage on Trenton SBCs & Motherboards

No doubt there are additional upfront system parameters to consider when implementing a real time operating system, but the rewards in terms of system software efficiency, I/O determinism and even platform security can be compelling.  Over the years we have helped numerous Trenton customers incorporate our single board computers and embedded motherboards in complex computer systems using RTOS packages from QNX, LynuxWorks, Windows® CE, Green Hills, Wind River and others.

There are numerous operating system possibilities available to you as a user of Trenton single board computers and embedded motherboards. Trenton board hardware is designed to support the specific operarting system choice that best fits the needs of your industrial computer system design.  Contact Trenton at 800.875.6031 or 770.287.3100 to learn more about the operating system testing process or see our engineering services web page for more information.
