Trenton TSB7053 System Host Board Benchmarks

by Jim Renehan on September 23, 2011

Previous Trenton blog posts have provided readers with an introduction to Sandy Bridge technology as well as a discussion on the topic of whether this 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family would be a good fit for embedded systems.  At this juncture we would like to share some recent benchmark results that clearly illustrate the advantages of utilizing these processors for embedded applications.

The processor arithmetic benchmark results graphed above show how the Sandy Bridge processor micro-architecture enables the TSB7053 to process more instructions as compared to previous Intel processor technologies.  As a comparison, the Trenton JXTS6966 & Trenton TQ9 system host boards provide a relative sense of performance between the three different processor architectures.

The results illustrate an aggregate processor arithmetic performance increase of approximately 62.3% with the Intel® Xeon® E3-1275 (Sandy Bridge) architecture compared to the Intel® Xeon® EC5549 (Jasper Forest) architecture and an increase of 220% if compared to the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 (Yorkfield) processor micro-architecture.

Trenton’s TSB7053 system host board can take full advantage of the Sandy Bridge processor micro-architecture to deliver improved computational and on-board video performance.  Similar benchmark improvements were also achieved in aggregate multi-media performance, multi-core efficiency and memory latency as indicated by the SiSoft 2011, SP2 benchmarking software.

The TSB7053 puts these Sandy Bridge processor improvements to work in many diverse applications such as military command & control systems, missile telemetry, process & control systems, airborne manned surveillance, factory test systems, satellite communications and unified messaging servers.

For additional information, the TSB7053 benchmarking results summary is available on our website.  Give us a call at 770.287.3100 to discuss the benchmarking test result data and how you can take advantage of TSB7053 performance improvements in your embedded computing application.
